The Southern Rockers Music Video From USWA

 

On January 27, 1990, The Southern Rockers left the Pacific Northwest for a "World Tour". They actually went to the USWA in Memphis, Tennessee. They returned in March for one night only. Steve & Rex won the tag team titles twice in the USWA. Steve Doll returned without Rex King on June 9, 1990. This video is from their time in Memphis. The end of Simply Devine/Well Dunn week. I didn't share any of the video from the USWA here, but from Mid-April to mid-July, they competed there as Simply Devine before joining the WWF and getting the name change. They weren't as goofy and fun in the USWA. Still great, but... That video can be found on YouTube. I think that if the WWF had allowed them to develop these characters, like they did in USA Wrestling, people would have been able to enjoy the team more. I assume it's why they signed them in the first place, right? There's a lot of fun Well Dunn stuff from Smoky Mountain in 1994, too. They did a whole series against the Thrill Seekers, Chris Jericho and Lance Storm. Always more to share, but I will be back to our regularly scheduled programming later today.

 In 1990, when Steve Doll returned to Portland from the USWA, I took these photos to get them signed. I got them from a pen pal of mine who lived in Tennessee. He looked at them closely and said, "JODY!! Did you follow me to Tennessee?? Why didn't you come say hi?". I laughed and told him no, that I got them from a pen pal. He didn't know about the network of wrestling pen pals and thought it was pretty cool. That's Brickhouse Brown in the ring with Rex King.

The Southern Rockers In The USWA Program - March 10, 1990

When the Southern Rockers (Steve Doll & Rex King( left Portland, on January 27, 1990, 

for their "World Tour", they actually went to the USWA in Memphis, TN.  

They debuted on Memphis television on February 10, 1990, and 

Immediately won the titles.  They were then challenged by the same team for an

immediate re-match, and won again.  And then challenged for another re-match 

and lost the third time.
