Tonight's events! 10/28/1989 I- Scotty the Body, Veronica T- Grappler tries to buy off Jeff Warner M- Kangaroo Lord Johnathon Boyd(w/Baby Doll the Snake) v Country Carl Stiles (w/Chicken) FG- Al Madril, Bill Francis, Scotty the Body, Brian Adams, Steve Doll, Rex King, Betelgeuse M- Steve Doll (w/Ginger) Scotty brings her candy. v Brian Adams (Run In By Rex King) -This is one of my all-time favorite matches! I- Brian Adams, The Grappler, Jeff Warner, Barry Owen M- Johnathon Holiday v Rex King (w/Ginger) Scotty brings her flowers. I- Scotty the Body, Johnathon Holiday, Veronica, Bill Francis M- Scotty the Body(w/Veronica & Johnathon Boyd) v Bill Francis (w/One hand tied behind his back.) Boyd puts the snake around Francis. Betelgeuse saves him. I- Jonathon Boyd, Betelgeuse, Kevin the Little Juicer T- Rip Oliver, Barry Owen M- Rip "The Crippler" Oliver v The Grappler (Grappler has lots of weapons.) Run in from Betelgeuse, Steve Doll, Rex King, Carl Stiles become lumberjacks and throw the Grappler back in the ring. Al Madril, Johnny Holiday, Brian Adams, Scotty the Body join, and everyone starts fighting. I- Rip Oliver, Barry Owen, Mike Ethridge(Logger) M- Betelgeuse v Al Madril (Run in by Johnny Boyd w/Baby Doll snake) I- The Grappler, Johnny Boyd

Thank you so much to Reed for sending me a scanned copy of his 1975 Portland Wrestling program.  It was great to meet you at the recent Portland Wrestling show!

I love how the programs in the 70s are almost a little magazine in themselves.

Portland Wrestling Full Episode 8/5/1989 - Who is the Matman? - You Tube Video

Portland Wrestling Full Episode August 5, 1989.

If you Google who Matman is, it says that it is Scott Levy (Scotty the Body); 

however, this guy is much smaller than Scotty.  If you compare the height between

the two compared to Sandy Barr, you can clearly see that he is smaller.

According to the Portland Wrestling Encyclopedia, by Mike Rogers, it may have 

been a protege of Bert Prentice and was also possibly played by Pat Tanaka.

Some fans remember that there was an interview that Scotty was definitely in the

outfit.  So it's hard to know for sure.

Portland Wrestling Program, Monday, December 25, 1989 - Merry Christmas!

The wrestlers here in Portland always had to wrestle on Christmas night, 

and pretty much every other night as well.  The whole crew rarely had a night off.

My mom always grumbled about taking me to wrestling on Christmas Day, but she always did.

This year I remember getting this HUGE box under the tree, it was like 3 foot by 3 foot.

I was so excited to see what would be in a huge box like that!

Turns out, it was a series of smaller and smaller boxes that resulted in an envelope

with tickets to the Christmas Night show. Also, like three bags of potatoes, to add weight to the

box and throw me off!

When the Southern Rockers broke up, it was a very popular angle.  The arena was PACKED every week and so many people were promising they were never coming back to Portland Wrestling if they broke up for good!  People were VERY emotionally involved in what was happening.  People at school 

knew that I was into wrestling, so everyone wanted to talk to me about it!

I've really been enjoying going through all of the Portland Wrestling videos on You Tube.  I just watched this one with Jonathon Boyd and had a hard time understanding so I went back and wrote it down.  I'm most of the way through 1980 now!

You fans have seen the wrestling game best.
Men from all nations with hair on their chest.
Some you've admired and some you hate.
And some were lousy and just didn't rate.
But who is this greatest from all present and past?
The kid from down under, that rolls them up fast.
But who is that man, that man with such fame?
The Royal Kangaroo, you know the name.
