Northwest Wrestle-Media Vol.1 No. 1 - June 1986

I finally got my hands on another issue of Wrestle-Media thanks to

The Rock ~ Honorary Oregonian

Did you know that the Rock just bought partial ownership in our very own Salt & Straw Ice Cream chain?  Of course, we know his dad, Rocky Johnson, wrestled here in Portland in the early 80's.  I've always wondered if Dwayne was living here with him at the time.  Turns out they were living in Vancouver and he ran wild around the Sports Arena.  Probably just a few years before I was running wild around the Sports Arena!  He also mentions that his uncle Siva married Kathy Peterson, Tom Peterson's daughter.

Big 11 man over the top battle royal in Tacoma in 1982.
Not sure why they are fighting over a purse?

That purse is selling for $3,000, so maybe they will re-sell it on ebay?

Ha!  Looks like a great match with some future legends on the card!

It's all about the Lane County Fairgrounds in 1981 and 1982.  Elton Owen is promoting in Eugene at this time and the cards seem pretty great!  I don't have a date on the two results mini articles, but they fit in there somehow.

Dizzy Hogan, who later became Brutus Beefcake in the WWF and Tommy Rogers of the Fantastics fame. 

Some of the best wrestling talent passed through the Northwest at one point or antoher.

I only ever went to wrestling one time in Salem, at the Armory.  I don't know why we didn't go there
more often.  It's not so far, but as a kid it seemed forever away.  Even though we would go to some other towns in the summer, we only went to Salem that one time.
