This was his hardcore wrestling era.
Well, pretty much everyone in 1998.
This is from Bert Prentice's Music City Wrestling in Nashville, TN.
About 6 months after leaving Portland, Steve ended up back in the USWA (Memphis, TN) and
then on to the WWF. For a short time in 1994, he and Rex worked in Smoky Mountain
Wrestling (Knoxville, TN), and WWF tried to let them go, but they got an attorney and
got to finish out the rest of their contract.
After leaving the WWF, Steve returned once again to the USWA, became their
final champion, and then moved on to Music City wrestling.
Steve worked in many independent
promotions in Tennessee, and even started his own in 1999.
Steve made his home in Tennessee
and even talked about how proud he was to have bought a house there.
