Curt Hennig was a regular here in Portland a little before my time (82-83) and even tagged with his father Larry "The Axe" Hennig. He did make some occasional appearances at the Sports Arena for special events throughout the 80s. The Grappler has a story in his book about Curt being booked in Portland and then faking an arm injury because he couldn't pass the drug test. If you haven't read The Grappler's Book yet, you really should pick it up!
