Mean Mike Miller's Last Match - 2012

I just came across this video and articles on Oregon Live.  Someone did a nice documentary about Mike Miller's career and finding he daughter, the motivation behind getting in the wrestling ring again.

30 Programs for $40 on Ebay... Late 70's to early 80's

I just saw this listing for 30 programs!  It looks like they are late 70's to early 80's a couple in the back may be mid 80's.  I started going to the Sports Arena in 1985 and the programs were the style in the back but I don't know when the change over happened.

I found this awesome listing for 3 Northwest Wrestling Magazines from the 1950's.  I'd love to get a chance to read through these!  Luigi Macera has sort of a Superman look.  I hope he used that!

Moondog Ed Morretti

Not a super pic, but a great wrestler.  I loved the spitting high in the air and catching it gag.  So gross!

Billy Jack Haynes Suing WWE For Concussion Injuries

KPTV - FOX 12

The story says that Billy Jack is suing because he felt WWE hid the risks of concussion from him.  They just didn't know the risks in the 80's, at least not the extent of them.  I doubt he has any legal ground to stand on, but it will be interesting to see what happens.  With lawsuits in football and now wrestling, we could see a real change in the way professional sports are played in the future.

1988, What a year for Portland Wrestling Fans!

Scott Peterson, Steve Doll and The Assassin
on stage with a local rock band.

This amazing autograph session took place at Eastport Plaza, a failing mall with lots of empty store spaces.  One afternoon in June of 1988 Portland Wrestling took this quiet little mall by storm.  One of the larger empty stores housed a stage and autograph tables, with, or course, lots of merchandise to purchase.  This is where I bought my first Southern Rockers t-shirt!  There were several chances this year to go to events like this and get up close and personal with your favorite Portland Wrestlers and even here them sing with a band.  Usually Proud Mary, or Old Time Rock and Roll.

Wrestle-Media #3-1, My Crossword Puzzle

Yes, other than my own blog, I am a published author!  I was published in the Wrestle Media.  I used to love to do word finds and to make them.  Not sure if I actually worked on this for three years, I remember that my mom wrote the letter because she dropped mine in a puddle or something.

Wrestle Media #3-Volume 1 Southern Rockers Break Up

In 1989 people, myself included, were OBSESSED with the Southern Rockers.  Attendance was high at the Sports Arena every Saturday Night.  During that time the wrestlers oftern did charity events on Saturdays and Sundays.  Those were always packed with people trying to get close to Steve Doll and Scott Peterson.  When Scotty The Body came to town, he was the perfect foil.  They worked an angle where Scotty the Body tricked Scott Peterson, the more gullible of the two, into believing that Steve was taking all of the glory.  The angle went on for weeks and fans bought into it big time.  People were standing in line for hours outside the Sports Arena to make sure they could get in.  On TV they talked about selling out, and the Arena was FULL every Saturday night.  I mean JAM packed.  But I don't konw that they ever actually turned anyone away.

When they actually broke up, fans were outraged.  I remember my mom being afraid that their might be a riot!  And when they got back together they must have sold tens of thousands of dollars in all new merchandize perfectly timed to their reunion!  They had t-shirts, bandanas, fans, photos, buttons and those things they tied around their arms.
